Playa del Carmen is situated not far from the most impressive Mayan ruins such as: Chichen Itza, Coba and Tulum, so they are really worth a visit. But if you think you will not have time to travel there, you do not need to worry; in Playa del Carmen you will also get to see Mayan ruins. In fact, it is common to run into Mayan remnants in Playa del Carmen, since there is one on the 5th Avenue, between 12 and 14 Streets. Another one called La Ruina lies on Calle 2 close to the beach and there are some others all over the place. Playacar also offers you a Mayan ruin to look at.
